The Crook County Sheriff’s Office, accepts applications for Reserve Deputies throughout the year.  Application deadline is in September for the training academy beginning in the February all of that year. The Reserve Academy begins early February and ends in November. Academy training consists of over 426 hours of instruction and practical application in the Criminal Justice System, Motor Vehicle Law, Criminal Law and many other law enforcement related areas.

Crook County Reserve Deputies are a respected and important part of our organization. Participating in the Crook County Reserve Program is a unique and fulfilling way of giving back to the community as a volunteer. In fact, many community members find the work so rewarding that they later call upon their volunteer experience to help them begin a new career in law enforcement.

The role of a Reserve Deputy is to assist in the following areas: community policing, patrol duties, marine patrol, prisoner transport, mental health transport, court services, crime scene security, hospital security and other related areas.

NOTE: Applicants are required to pass: a written exam, ORPAT, and oral board examination, a police background check and a driving record check.
