Civil Division – Process Service The Civil Division serves ALL citizens of Crook County not just those in the unincorporated areas of the county. We are not allowed by law to provide any legal advice. The Civil Division is responsible for carrying out the duties imposed and mandated upon the Sheriff as an officer of the court system, and as required by law. The division fulfills these responsibilities as it pertains to Forcible Entry and Detainer (FED) actions, Writs of Garnishment, Abuse Prevention Restraining Orders, Extraordinary Writs, Notice Process, Writs of Execution, Property Sales, and Criminal, Juvenile and Civil Subpoena service. The Civil Division provides prompt efficient service and enforcement of Court process that is either delivered to or required by statute of the Sheriff in order to insure the safety of the citizen stakeholders of Crook County. Patrol and deputies conduct civil service in rural areas and in the cities. Private parties can and do serve a select few types of civil process however the Sheriff is responsible for the execution of certain actions that, by statute, can only be performed by this office.
Oregon State Statute requires fees to be charged for notice as enforcement process as follows:
Garnishments $15.00
Civil Actions and proceedings $28.00 Service of document in excess of 75 miles rd trip – additional $25.00 Two persons at same address $28.00 Three or more persons at same Address $15.00 each person (i.e. $45.00 for 3) Two persons at two different Addresses $28.00 for each address. Three or more persons $15.00 each
Two persons – two different Cases $28.00 each case Three or more persons $15.00 each
Criminal Actions $28.00
Service of document in excess of 75 miles rd trip – additional $25.00
FEDS – 2 persons $28.00 Three or more persons $15.00 each
FED –Notice of Restitution $28.00 Three or more persons $15.00 each
FED – Writ of Execution $47.00 – service of Writ of Execution $28.00 – Service of Eviction Notice $75.00 Making Sheriff’s Deed at Sale of real property $15.00 FEES ARE DUE AT TIME PAPERS ARE SUBMITTED FOR SERVICE
