Patch

The Crook County Sheriff’s shoulder patch was developed to highlight certain aspects of the history of the county.

At the center of the patch is the bucking horse and rider and is there to represent the historical information of Crook County being the Cowboy capitol of Oregon. The star in the center that the bucking horse rests on and the circle attached to the points of the star represent the early historical badge worn in the county.

The wording on the patch identifies the Office of Sheriff with the word “SHERIFF” and that it is the office of sheriff in “CROOK COUNTY OREGON” with the date the county was established at the bottom of “1882”.

The colors of the patch are summer gold on a black background. The significance of the gold color is twofold.

First, Crook County is known for 300 days of sunshine each year and the summer gold color designates those 300 golden days of summer sunshine.

Second, all regular deputies of the Crook County Oregon Sheriff’s Office wear Gold Badges not just supervisors.

The black background color designates the black days in Crook County’s history of the sheep and cattlemen’s wars that permeated a portion of our history.

The patch is worn on both shoulders of the official uniform.

Crook County Patches have proven to be very collectable and can be purchased by collectors for a fee of $5.00 per patch plus shipping and handling of 95 cents. We do not trade patches or take personal checks.
